How to Destroy Evolution with the Resurrection
December 23, 2013
The number one reason why the theory of evolution is so dangerous is because it completely eviscerates the Genesis account of a literal six day creation. When this happens God is no longer a Creator. He has no ability to create and all worship or theology based upon God as a Creator becomes void. Of course there are many other problems that follow. When the creation account is removed the dominoes naturally fall and take with it the biblical account of the Fall, Sin, and Death. Genesis then becomes a book of fables and myths and therefore obliterates the seventh day Sabbath, marriage, consequences of sin, need for a savior, prophecy of a Redeemer, Noah's flood, etc. In fact if Genesis is a myth then so is the rest of the Bible. Take out God as Creator and you take out everything.
But there does exist a simple and irrefutable argument that God is in fact a Creator.
Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 that the resurrection is inseparable from Christianity. If you remove the resurrection you remove the necessary linchpin and everything falls apart. It is impossible for someone to be a Christian and not believe in the resurrection.
The resurrection however provides the evidence necessary to destroy evolution. While Jesus was in the tomb he was dead. His lifeless human body was in a state of decomposition and decay. If we were there to uncover that body we would see the victim of a gruesome murder. From a scientific point of view however that body is simply inanimate matter. Inanimate matter. The same inanimate matter from which Adam was made.
Early that Sunday morning God provided the reason for the hope of every Christian; he resurrected Jesus from the dead. From a scientific perspective that inanimate matter became animate. The dead became alive. This was an awe inspiring demonstration of God's creative powers. For your notes: The Resurrection was an Act of Creation. Creating Jesus again in the tomb was no different than creating Adam on the sixth day of Creation.
Evolution has no eyewitnesses. Creation has no eyewitnesses. But the Resurrection has eyewitnesses! Peter, Paul, Matthew, and John all testified to being eyewitnesses to the resurrected Jesus. They were eyewitnesses to God's ability to create man from inanimate matter, and not only to create but to re-create again! With over 5,000 Greek manuscripts and over 19,000 manuscripts in other languages recording these eyewitness testimonies great confidence can be place in the Bible and God's ability to create instantaneously.
Have you heard of the resurrection before? What about your neighbors or co-workers, have they heard of the resurrection before? Did you know that there are still people groups in the world that have never heard of Jesus resurrected from the dead? Did you know there are people that know nothing of a loving Creator God? God wants this beautiful message to go to the people group below. I want to be a part of this work, what about you? Prayerfully consider how you can join in the Great Commission of taking this message to unreached people.
