The Unseen War Behind Prayer and Fasting

Are you waiting for God to do something great in your life or is God waiting on you? My friend, think about the events that cause a war. Most wars do not happen spontaneously or as the result of one event but are usually the result of increasing tensions that finally break and spillover into violence.
Now, let us focus on the event that triggers the violence. In the Bible in Daniel Chapter 10 we see that the angels of God are always ready to war on our behalf but are somehow handicapped by our lack of prayer and fasting. In verse 12 we can see that when Daniel began to fast and pray, angels immediately attacked the front lines of Satan’s forces. |
Imagine for a moment this war, mighty angels locked in a fierce cosmic sized conflict, and the only way for them to hold the line and advance is if you persist in prayer and fasting. Imagine the unparalleled strength of these angels. If they should so much as even touch the earth it will cause a devastating earthquake. This is amazing! Why? Because when you begin to fast and pray you start a war on universal scale. How? By fulfilling the requirements that remove their restrictions you become in effect the critical link that unleashes the angelic forces upon all the barriers that are preventing God from doing more in your life. As we have seen throughout the Bible and now in Daniel chapter 10 the only God guaranteed method to attain significant victory is through prayer and fasting; fervent prayer, persistent fasting, prayer that pushes and fasting that does not quit.
God is waiting anxiously to give you victory but he cannot until you fulfill these conditions. The angels of God are ready with swords in hand to fight and to help you but they can’t even move until by prayer and fasting you open the way. Even more amazing is that during this commonly referred to “fast” Daniel was eating, eating a simple diet sufficient only to maintain strength, consisting probably of only fresh fruits and vegetables. The resulting victory and vision as found in the book of Daniel has been and remains of immense value to the students of Bible prophecy. This is exciting. Why? If Daniel was only one and had this experience, then how many are you? If fasting and prayer is this powerful with only one, then what would happen if groups or whole churches united in prayer and fasting? Wow, the potential is huge! What a fantastic experience awaits us! Now, let’s go start a war!
